Chlorophyll Benefits

I was recently recommended by a friend of mine, Paul Glazby of Prime Mover gyms (and international Hardhouse DJ for those of you who like to party), to take a chlorophyll supplement. I was little bit sceptical at first as my knowledge of this was based upon high school biology classes. I knew it was good for plants and was key part of photosynthesis. In spite of my reservations I was assured it was great supplement that aided, digestion and the bowels as well as helping control body odour (mmmmm…maybe someone was trying to tell me something?).

After a couple of weeks I noticed a general improvement in my personal wellbeing (I’m not sure whether I smell any better). This lead me to do a little research as see how it might help a fighter. Apart from the obvious benefits of smelling better and not offending people you train with here’s 2 other good reasons to use Chlorophyll

  • Recovery – it appears that chlorophyll has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which basically means it can help neutralize free radical damage to healthy cells that is caused by training. It has also been seen to help in the repair and growth of tissues.
  • Performance – Another benefit is it’s ability to deliver magnesium to body and help blood deliver oxygen to cells and tissues. Which is good because it allows our bodies to generate more energy when training or competing.
